Born in Brazil, our founder, Magela Maltarollo arrived in San Diego in 2000, eager to immerse herself in a new culture and life. With a background in social communication and creative writing, she worked in advertising before discovering a passion for education that would change her life. As a new mother in 2008, she instinctively turned to child-centered approaches to nurture her son’s growth. Little did she know, this journey would lead her to Montessori.
In 2010, inspired by her son’s Montessori experience, she pursued her Montessori credential from the American Montessori Society. Her fascination with the method grew as she learned about its emphasis on independence, self-confidence, and a love for learning. Over the years, her career in Montessori education flourished, first as an intern and then as a head teacher at Maria Montessori School, where she spent eight years cultivating strong relationships with families and understanding the importance of home-school collaboration.
We believe that every child has the potential to become a confident, curious, and compassionate individual. Through the Montessori method, we can help create an environment where children thrive and embrace learning for life.
